OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) — U.S. Sens. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and Patty Murray, D-Wash., previously today revealed that Tidewater Terminal Company has actually been granted $3,072,696 in federal coordinating funds to finish their Clean Energy Transition Project and develop a brand-new significant biodiesel circulation center in the Tri-Cities.

The grant was granted through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program.

Tidewater will utilize HBIIP and matching financing to set up specialized equipment needed for mixing, storage and circulation of biodiesel fuels at the Snake River Terminal along the Columbia River in Pasco, Washington. These upgrades will enable Tidewater to get net biodiesel by railcar, store it in 2 400,000-gallon tanks, and mix and unload it for shipment through an updated and broadened truck rack. Once total, Tidewater will have a devoted truck bay for biodiesel and cool biodiesel, and abilities to supply biodiesel to a pipeline serving the BNSF Railway’s fueling system in its Pasco rail lawn.

The Pasco center will broaden the yearly schedule of biodiesel for eastern Washington, eastern Oregon and northern Idaho by more than 12 million gallons each year. Tidewater will have the ability to supply as much as 2 million gallons each month to provide farmers throughout peak harvest and strategies to make the fuel available to BNSF Railway, which is looking for to cut its emissions by 30%.
