Animal advocates from Miami-Dade and Broward counties met on Saturday to speak about the necessity to assist an injured 90-pound canine they named Mellow.
The leaders of the Brandy Hunter Foundationa North Miami Beach-based nonprofit organization, and the iHeart Animal Rescuea Fort Lauderdale-based nonprofit organization, stated they’re working to assist the Rottweiler.
“He was shot, a gunshot wound that went through his front leg, just yesterday,” stated Cindy Mucciaccio, the founding father of the iHeartwork Animal Rescue.
The advocates stated there is a rise in animal abuse instances in South Florida. Josh Fox, the chief director of the nonprofit organization, stated there’s a want to boost consciousness and discover options.
“Unfortunately is happening more and more. We are getting those emergency phone calls,” Fox stated on Saturday.
In the case of Mellow, Mucciaccio stated she didn’t need his leg to be amputated, so she requested the Sunshine Animal Hospital, at 9800 Pines Boulevard, in Pembroke Pines, and the Brandy Hunter Foundation’s advocates for assist to cowl the cost of surgical procedure.
“We wanted to step in and save the quality of life of this dog,” Fox stated.
Eric Lerner, the nonprofit organization’s director of particular initiatives, stated they had been proud to associate with iHeartwork Animal Rescue. Paige Bresky, the nonprofit organization’s vice chairman of promoting, stated it’s because the inspiration goals to “support the voiceless and the vulnerable.”
