Molly, a 10-month-old Bernedoodle pup, ate her proprietor’s socks, leading to an emergency journey to the vet and a life-saving process.
Kerrylee Hempenstall, the naughty puppy’s proprietor, solely realized one thing was flawed with Molly when she refused to eat and started throwing up someday final month.
After the Dublin resident rushed poor Molly to the vet, medical doctors on the Primrose Hill Veterinary Hospital found a “large bundle of foreign materials” lodged in her abdomen, which turned out to be a number of socks.
“We were very shocked, though, to learn it was because she had eaten three socks,” Hempenstall, 50, advised Southwest News Service.
The vet, Katie Dwan, was shocked herself, declaring it probably the most weird circumstances her clinic had seen.
“I performed an exploratory laparotomy to identify and retrieve the foreign body blocking Molly’s digestive tract and quickly realized Molly had swallowed three socks,” she defined, noting that the process was “tricky” because of the socks being unfold out by way of her digestive tract.
“This made the surgery slightly more complicated than we originally anticipated, with two procedures required – a gastrotomy and an enterotomy – for the socks to be safely removed,” she advised SWNS.
Following the surgical procedure, Molly stayed within the pet hospital’s emergency care unit, and appeared again to her energetic self merely two days post-op, and has since been returned to her household.
“She’s now back to her bubbly self,” Hempenstall mentioned.
