AMERICAN FORK — A person who police say left his canine chained up inside a storage for 2 months and would beat it when he bought offended has been arrested in American Fork following a home violence investigation.
The 27-year-old man was arrested Aug. 31 and charged Tuesday in 4th District Court with torture of a companion animal, a third-degree felony; and making a risk of violence, inflicting property harm, and 5 counts of contacting his sufferer whereas in jail, all class B misdemeanors.
The investigation started Aug. 31 when police obtained a report of a person chasing a girl down the road and yelling at her to cease, in line with charging paperwork. As officers sorted out what was happening, they discovered that the person had allegedly thrown the lady’s telephone in opposition to a wall, breaking it, and she or he ran from the home fearing for her security, the costs state.
As the investigation progressed, police discovered the household’s 1-year-old canine had been hit by the person “quite a few instances with a metallic broomstick, leaving the canine with a bloody and swollen eye” and that “the defendant hit the canine exhausting sufficient that the broomstick was bent and damaged,” in line with the costs.
He allegedly instructed the lady “it will be worse for her and the canine if she didn’t return to the residence,” the costs state.
Police discovered that the canine “had been chained within the storage for about two months” and that when the person grew to become offended, “he would exit and beat the canine,” charging paperwork state. The chain holding the canine was so corroded that bolt cutters had been wanted to set the canine free.
The canine was taken to an area shelter for remedy. Charging paperwork don’t say what breed the canine is.
After the person was booked into jail, police say he known as the lady a minimum of 5 instances regardless of a restraining order being in place.
