In May in 2015, Mark Thomas, 46, went to London Zoo with his spouse and 2 kids. They had a beautiful day seeing the penguins and the lions. But it was on their method home that they had a close encounter they weren’t anticipating. They were walking along Regent’s Canal when they saw a 3ft-long snake. And it wasn’t in a cage. “It was right in front of me slithering across the canal path,” says Thomas. “I almost stepped on it. Thankfully my wife shouted out, ‘Snake!’” Then it continued its merry method throughout the course.”
