A momentous step towards conservation and environmental stewardship has been taken with the profitable closure of a $1 million land deal, securing the way forward for Snake Hill—Saratoga Lake’s largest unprotected shoreline property. The Snake Hill Formation holds a novel distinction as a remnant of the Taconic Mountain lowlands, relationship again 450 million years and boasting timber which have stood for over two centuries. Known by its indigenous identify, Tor-war-loon-da, that means ‘hill of storms,’ this landform is talked about in a number of indigenous tales and has historic significance. Snake Hill will stay closed to the general public in the meanwhile. A public remark interval and fundraising marketing campaign for future administration and stewardship of the land might be introduced later this 12 months.
