Central Otago District Council has actually extended the closure of the reserve to July 9 to enable work to be finished.
Parks and leisure supervisor Gordon Bailey said felling had actually been slower than initially expected due to the requirement to secure the lizard environment and special landscape.
Contractors were dealing with council to take care of the landscape, and lizard environment and trees which effected on particular lizard environment were dropped with oversight of a herpetologist, he said.
“The group are working as thoroughly as possible, and Council is helpful of this method.”
The extra timeframe was not expected to effect on spending plan for the job.
Weather allowing, Mr Bailey said he did not anticipate any additional extensions would be required to finish work needing the closure of the reserve.
Next week the trees surrounding State Highway 8 will be gotten rid of.
Traffic management will remain in location at the time and vehicle drivers need to anticipate some small hold-ups throughout those days.
