A handler from Snake Out Brisbane Snake Catchers had the ability to capture the snake about 11.25am, prior to launching it into the wild.
The Queensland education department said the snake was identified prior to staff or trainees got near to it.
“The Gap State High School holds the safety and wellbeing of all students as its highest priority and ensures that school grounds are maintained to reduce the risk of snakes,” a department representative informed 7NEWS.com.au.
“The school went into a brief lockdown at 10.55am after a potentially dangerous snake was spotted on school grounds.
“A professional snake catcher attended the school to remove the snake, and the lockdown was lifted at 11.25am.
“No staff or students went near the snake or were harmed. First lunch break was shortened due to lockdown.
“The Gap State High School will continue to remind both staff and students to be extra vigilant regarding safety procedures if further snakes are sighted.”
A Facebook post by Snake Out Brisbane Snake Catchers said trainees and staff “kept an eye on their scaly visitor from a safe distance until we arrived”.
