Upland council approves renovations for Baldy View Dog Park – Every day Bulletin

Renovations on the Baldy View Dog Park are set to begin this month to extend the house for big and small dogs, add shade and enhance sidewalks.

The ultimate plans for the park embrace a 20% improve within the dimension of the play areas for big and small dogs and embrace new facilities, ramps and tunnels in addition to further shade and seating, new entrances to each canine park areas and new sod and LED lighting.

The Upland City Council authorized plans for the park in a 4-1 vote Monday, April 8, with Councilmember Carlos Garcia voting in opposition to the mission.

Garcia voted in opposition to the ultimate plans after Councilmembers James Breitling and Shannon Maust moved to chop the deliberate walking paths and as an alternative put funds towards renovating present sidewalks.

Garcia reminded the council that in COVID-19 out of doors house was the one place the place older members of the group have been in a position to spend time collectively.

“The whole purpose of this is for accessibility for seniors or for people who need walkers,” Garcia stated, objecting to the elimination of the walking paths from the plans.

Breitling stated he was involved the paths would current a battle between the dogs and folks.

“I want to make sure we are focused on giving ample space for the dogs to play safely within the confines of the dog park,” he stated.

According to the town, as soon as the renovation is full, which can take about 100 days, the town could have occasions and programming available on the canine park.

“I know that this project has been in the pipeline for quite some time and I am confident once the renovations are done the residents of Upland will continue to have a great dog park,” Breitling stated.

Renovations are scheduled to begin April 22.
