One Transportation Security Agency worker had the retirement send-off of a lifetime: an 8-year-old labrador retriever named Messi.

Messi is a passenger-screening canine for the TSA at Reagan National Airport outdoors Washington, D.C. who “enjoys watching airplanes and taking part in within the grass at close by Gravelly Point,” per a press launch.

The labrador’s favourite exercise is “taking part in with a tennis ball after a busy day sniffing for any traces of explosives on the airport.”

Messi, alongside each TSA screening canine, is considered one of 300 dogs chosen yearly who spend 16 weeks coaching for the job on the Joint Base San Antonio Lackland.

After faithfully executing his duties for a lot of years, Messi was shocked by his handler Peter and a few adoring followers at Reagan Airport with a particular deal with.

Per a TSA press launch, “Messi was joined by a number of of the canine handlers and invited friends to have fun his retirement at a shock social gathering.”

“A coaching help was hid in a big room and Messi, alongside along with his handler, Peter, searched the room. When Messi ‘hit’ on the gadget, he was showered with tennis balls tossed his approach by the opposite canine handlers.”

Messi’s finish of duties occurred when his official “Do Not Pet” patch was faraway from his harness, signaling the top of his life as a working canine.

Luckily, “There was no scarcity of friends who had been desirous to pet the newly retired canine.”

Messi will probably be adopted in his retirement by his handler Peter, who will go on to coach TSA canines professionally.
