A 54-year-old man from Alabama is implicated of openly drowning his dog after he presumably brought his canine through a popular treking area to the beach, strolled into the browse, then held the animal’s head undersea for about 3 minutes as witnesses viewed in scary and shock.

Shawn Taulbee, who presumably killed the dog since it was plagued with fleas, was nabbed on Monday and charged with one count of first-degree cruelty to a dog, a felony, authorities verified to Law&Crime.

Officers with the Dauphin Island Police Department at around 2 p.m. on July 3 reacted to a call from the parking area of the Audubon Bird Sanctuary relating to a report of an animal being mistreated, according to a report from Mobile, Alabama NBC affiliate WPMI-TV.

Several witnesses at the scene supposedly informed authorities private investigators that the man — later on recognized as Taulbee — strolled his dog from the bird sanctuary parking area to the boardwalk on the Gulf of Mexico. When Taulbee and the dog reached the coastline on the east side of the beach, the witnesses informed authorities that Taulbee presumably utilized a rope to develop a makeshift leash, connected it around the dog’s neck, and began walking into the water, WPMI reported.

After utilizing the rope to drag the animal into the water, the witnesses supposedly informed authorities that Taulbee utilized the rope to pull the dog in and out of the water a number of times prior to lastly holding the canine below the surface area for a number of minutes.

Dauphin Island Police Detective Jeremy Castile offered some extra information about 2 witnesses who offered declarations to private investigators, in an interview with WPMI.

“A couple of other bystanders saw him walk the dog out there (into the surf). All they knew was that the dog went underwater for about three minutes,” he informed the station. “And when they walked up, the man was standing over their dog and a couple of other individuals were hollering at him.”

Det. Castile went on to state the witnesses informed private investigators that when they faced Taulbee about drowning his dog he had “no remorse” and was “kind of emotionless at the time.”

According to a report from Mobile Fox affiliate WALA-TV, Taulbee said that he drowned the dog since the animal had fleas.

Two of the witnesses at the beach called 911 and authorities were supposedly able to find Taulbee and take him into custody an instant later on. He was booked at the Mobile County Metro Jail and launched the very same day after publishing $3,000 bond.

Court records reveal that Taulbee’s just previous history in Mobile, Alabama consists of a 2018 citation for failure to signal and a 2014 citation for breaking a cluttering regulation.

It is uncertain if Taulbee has actually maintained a lawyer in this case.
