It is with nice unhappiness that we announce the passing of Barclay who was, for a lot of years, the Vane Road Primary School Therapy Dog. Barclay was presumably the primary School Therapy Dog within the North East. He began his work as a Therapy Dog at Vane Road in September 2013, being in class on a regular basis. The disruption brought about to varsities by COVID meant that he spent numerous time away from the college and was not so pleased being in class when faculties reopened and, so, spent the final couple of years in pleased retirement.
During his time at Vane Road (with journeys to Woodham Burn and Aycliffe Village Primary Schools) he helped numerous kids with their anxieties and easily made all, who have been round, him pleased. Children appeared ahead to walking Barclay, throw his ball for him, grooming him and simply having cuddles with him. His superpower was to calm everybody he got here into contact with and clearly beloved his work. He helped kids recover from their concern of dogs and there are numerous households in Newton Aycliffe who now have a canine as a result of they noticed how beautiful Barclay was. There are at the least 10 different faculty remedy dogs within the North East, because of folks witnessing the unbelievable energy of positivity that he introduced to high school.
He has now gone to spend eternity chasing his beloved ball!
