An Orangeburg man deals with criminal charges after deputies state he motivated his dog to attack another.
John Glover Jr., 63, is charged with ill treatment of animals and animal fighting/baiting after police authorities state security video revealed Glover screaming, “Get him, kill him,” at his dog prior to the animal assaulted a roaming dog oversleeping another yard.
Orangeburg County constable’s deputies were contacted us to the location June 13 after the dog was assaulted and received extra assistance from Orangeburg County Animal Control prior to acquiring warrants for Glover’s arrest.
“After we had made initial contact in what would be an animal control case, we were more than happy to assist when those officers got in touch with us,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a press release. “We have since made an arrest, but I’m saddened to see an animal treated this way and treated this way on purpose.”
If founded guilty, Glover confronts 5 years in jail and a $5,000 fine for animal battle and a minimum of 180 days and optimum of 5 years in jail for ill treatment of animals.
