“The accused, 41-year-old Pappu Sahu, was intoxicated when he slit ear of the puppy. Sahu said that he did the act since he believes that dogs turn faithful on cutting ears,” Chandan Nagar police station in-charge Abhay Nema told TOI
The police arrested Pappu under relevant section of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and others on Sunday, He was produced before a local court from where he was sent to jail.
Reacting to the incident in Bhopal, home minister Narottam Mishra said on Monday, “These are merciless people, who do such acts. The matter came to my knowledge yesterday. I, immediately, directed police officials to act in the matter taking strict action against those guilty.”
“The accused should take care of the puppy and get it treated,” added Mishra.
