The Iditarod continues to be the most important and hottest canine sled race on the planet because it enters its 52nd yr of competitors.

“The Last Great Race on Earth” takes place in Alaska every year, as one musher and a crew of 12-14 dogs race from Anchorage to Nome over a mean of 8-15 days.

In order to qualify as a finisher, the musher wants at least five dogs pulling the sled throughout the end line.

Iditarod standings 2024

The 52nd annual Iditarod will begin on Saturday, March 2. This part will probably be up to date day by day with standings and outcomes all through the race.

Iditarod map and route

The Iditarod takes on two completely different routes relying on which yr the race takes place.

During even years, the mushers will journey on the northern route by way of cities and cities similar to Ruby and Galena. In odd years, they use the southern route by way of Anvik and Grayling.

Each route has completely different checkpoints, and the southern path is barely longer (998 miles) in comparison with the northern route (975 miles).
