The new London band Fat Dog placed on considered one of our favourite performances at SXSW. Today the group has introduced its debut album and shared a single that captures a few of that present’s madcap power.
The LP is titled WOOF. and might be arriving in September by way of Domino. (September album bulletins! Already!) It’s produced by Fat Dog chief Joe Love plus James Ford and Jimmy Robertson, and it options “All The Same,” the one Fat Dog dropped in January, in addition to final 12 months’s “King Of The Slugs.”
“I wanted to make something ridiculous because I was so bored,” Love says in a press launch. “I don’t like sanitized music. Even this album is sanitized compared to what’s in my head. I thought it would sound more fucked up.”
New track “Running” spends greater than 5 minutes building up rising ranges of depth, all whereas Stephen Agnew’s video cheekily portrays the cultic origins of Fat Dog. Watch beneath.
