Raymond Alexie carrying bib #15 mushes up the Kuskokwim River along with his 5-dog workforce throughout the 2017 Junior Kuskokwim Classic final Wednesday.

The Kuskokwim 300 Race Committee hosted the Season Opener this previous Sunday and profitable first place was Raymond Alexie of Kwethluk. Coming in second place was Alexie’s dad Harry Alexie, additionally of Kwethluk. Third place finisher was Kenneth Snyder of Akiachak.

The 8-dog restrict race was 32 miles beginning at 11am from the Charles Lake in Bethel to Atmautluak and again. The race, initially set for Saturday, was moved to Sunday on account of climate. Mushers started the race with a mass begin.
