‘Trying to frighten him:’ Punxsy man confesses to eliminating cat with blow dart, authorities state

Authorities in Jefferson County have actually submitted charges versus a Punxsutawney man after he supposedly confessed to shooting and eliminating his next-door neighbor’s cat with a blow weapon dart.

According to the affidavit, authorities state officers were contacted us to the location of Elk Street recently for an animal cruelty problem.

Police state the caller declared that her next-door neighbor, 37-year-old Leroy Hazlett, had actually apparently shot and killed her cat, called Trunks.

Investigators state the cat was supposedly discovered in a neighboring driveway with a blow dart stuck in its neck.

Police state the cat’s owner informed officers that he had actually been missing out on for a number of days prior to being discovered dead.

Authorities state the lady supposedly challenged Hazlett about the event, because she declared that he was “understood to eliminate animals in the location,” at which time he supposedly confessed to shooting and eliminating her cat.

Police state when he was questioned by officers, he once again declared that he was just attempting to frighten the animal.

According to online court files, Hazlett deals with charges of felony worsened cruelty to animal, misdemeanor animal cruelty and prohibited discharge of a weapon.

His initial hearing is scheduled for next month.
