Pompano Beach, FL – A girl has been arrested on animal cruelty costs after intentionally lighting her cat on fireplace within the yard of her South Florida home.
According to police, a neighbor witnessed smoke coming from the yard of 79-year-old Elgathe Celestin’s Pompano Beach residence at roughly 12:30 PM on Tuesday.
Upon wanting over the fence, the neighbor noticed a cat trapped in a cage being intentionally set on fireplace.
The neighbor, who wished to stay nameless, known as 911 and reported seeing Celestin stoking the flames whereas the cat was nonetheless alive.
Responding officers extinguished the hearth and secured the scene.
Investigators say the severity of the cat’s accidents necessitated euthanasia.
Celestin was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
Authorities proceed to analyze Tuesday’s incident.
