The moggie was walking throughout the work surfaces on the home in Heather Grove, Worsley Hall, when it stepped on a contact management for the halogen hob.
Unfortunately the house owners had forgotten on this event to show the cooker off on the wall and there had been some cardboard containers piled on prime which heated up and burst into flames.
Fortunately the home was fitted with smoke alarms which rapidly woke the couple and their younger youngster at 6am right this moment (Wednesday August 23) and so they instantly obtained out of the home together with their cats.
With the fireplace station solely a few minutes away, two engines had been very quickly on scene and the incident was tackled with out harm to something aside from the cardboard itself.
Watch supervisor Mike Fairhurst mentioned: “The smoke alarms really did their job and it was also handy that the house is so close to the station.
“The lady said she normally switches off the cooker at the wall – which is a sound piece of advice to everyone – but forgot on this occasion.
“The other lesson to be learnt though is that you shouldn’t put flammable objects on top of a hob whether it’s swtiched on or not.”
The crews had been on the tackle for little greater than half an hour, after which the household and their pets had been safely in a position to return inside.
