A female was left in stitches after she caught humorous video footage of a “koala” resting on the bird table in her back garden.
Peta Parke-Gailey was looking out her window at a gang of squirrels on Tuesday when she discovered an unusual sight as what seemed a koala sat atop the feeding table.
Soon understanding the animal wasn’t truly what it seemed, the 68-year-old taken out her phone to offer others a laugh at the video footage.
Video reveals a grey squirrel foraging for crumbs on the wood table, obscuring another animal behind it.
As the squirrel gets a morsel in between its paws, it relaxes to reveal something that bears a striking resemblance to either a koala or a wombat sitting behind it.
The “koala” aims to have 2 big front paws, a black nose, little eyes and even 2 fluffy ears – all qualities of the Australian tree-dweller.
It appears to mosey forward to smell at the food, sitting along with its squirrel associate to produce a hilariously surreal image.
However, the “koala” is rapidly revealed to be an imposter after the squirrel nips at its paw, triggering a short scuffle and revealing the face of the marsupial to in reality be the behind of another squirrel.
With the 2nd squirrel dealing with far from the electronic camera, the colour and functions of its rear end produce a side-splitting similarity to the Aussie mammal.
Peta from Uckfield, East Sussex shared the image of the squirrel and “koala” to social networks on Tuesday, joking: “I’ve got a koala on my bird table.”
Her image resembled over 520 times and was swamped with lots of remarks from entertained wildlife lovers, much of whom were left puzzled by just what they were taking a look at.
Joy Sturgeon said: “Is it a squirrel bottom?”
Emma Harris said: “Just a squirrel and his nuts.”
Jolene Elizabeth Moss said: “Maybe you should have gone to Specsavers.”
Sam Darby: “Oh my, you just made me laugh so much – this is absolutely brilliant, I was convinced this was some sort of marsupial. Totally made my day, thank you.”
Peta was required to let individuals understand just what they were taking a look at, composing: “Ladies, it’s the other squirrel’s bollocks, I saw them fussing, combating and squabbling.
“I then took this picture because it looked so much like a koala or wombat.”
Speaking today, Peta said: “I was enjoying the pesky squirrels from my couch nicking all the bird food.
“The shenanigans they get up to taking the food, they are constantly consuming the food that is indicated for the birds.
“I’ve attempted putting them off by blending chilli into the seeds however it hasn’t worked.
“I was tickled by seeing the whole incident and the fact it looked like a koala.”
Wombats and koalas are carefully associated, with the koala being a little smaller sized, doing not have the exact same incisors as a wombat, and having actually claws adjusted for climbing up.
Koalas are tree-dwelling animals who dine on eucalyptus leaves whilst wombats are burrow-dwelling marsupials who feed upon lawns, plants and roots.
