Northumberland Wildlife Trust has acquired a donation of 10 hen packing containers and 5 hen feeders from Carltons The Feed Merchants, to be used on its reserves.

The firm, which has warehouses in Benton and Seaton Delaval, gives pet, wild hen and horse provides and equipment to members of the general public and pet retailers.
With pure nesting websites equivalent to holes in bushes or old buildings disappearing as gardens are ‘tidied’ and old homes are repaired, nest packing containers of all sizes and styles present a secure atmosphere for birds and, in flip, assist improve the hen inhabitants.
Likewise, many pure sources of hen meals are disappearing as gardens are flagged and decked. Birds feeders improve the possibilities of birds’ survival and assist restore their inhabitants – particularly once they come to depend on them when meals within the wild is depleted.
Geoff Dobbins, Northumberland Wildlife Trust estates supervisor says: “A massive thank you to Carltons The Feed Merchants for their generous donation. These bird boxes will help birds nest on a number of our Northumberland reserves and, as the best time to put up a bird box is early spring, they’ve come just at the right time.
“The feeders will also help us keep the birds fuelled during the winter months.”
