New York City cat caught in a settee wins wackiest insurance coverage declare

Giles, a resident feline of New York City, has snagged the fifteenth annual Hambone Award for its fascinating story of a misadventure involving a settee mattress.

The Hambone Award, offered yearly by Nationwide, acknowledges essentially the most extraordinary pet insurance coverage declare of the yr. Fortunately, it wasn’t too bad. He did need some stitches … but he was the model patient.”

“Giles’ predicament shows just how easily an ordinary situation can become precarious for a pet,” says Dr. Jules Benson, vice chairman, Pet Health and chief veterinary officer for Nationwide. “We’re so glad that the quick actions of Giles’ family and their veterinary care team set him up for a speedy recovery.”

Nationwide hosted a public vote on Sept. 13-22 to find out essentially the most uncommon story and two runners-up from a discipline of 10 finalists. Giles, Kaitlyn and Reid obtained the coveted Hambone Award trophy, a present card, and a donation to be made in Giles’ honor to an accepted pet charity of the household’s alternative.

All the nominated pets have made a full restoration and have obtained reimbursements for eligible veterinary bills.
