It was a ‘ruff’ Monday early morning for our team at Portchester who rescued 2 dogs in 2 hours throughout ‘Paw-tsmouth’!
At around 10am the HIWFRS Control Room got on the ‘dog-and-bone’ to the on-call team, signaling them after a dog had actually gone ‘walkies’, slipping through a fence and had actually ended up being caught, with its lead tangled in the undergrowth on a train embankment on Gurnard Road in Cosham.
Working with Network Rail officers the team had the ability to reach the family pet and reunite it with its owner prior to leaving the scene at around 11am.
Less than an hour later on the team raced to rescue a greyhound from a drain in Newbolt Road, Portsmouth.
Using their equipment, the firemens had the ability to get in the drain and recuperate the pooch.
The team went back to their station soon after midday with a lot of ‘tails’ to inform of their animal rescue shenanigans!
