Dozens of dogs discovered in an overcrowded pickup truck stranded in New Jersey are safe after shelter employees concerned their rescue recently.

Over 40 animals were discovered alive, packed into the cabin and bed of a truck parked in Sussex County, New Jersey, an animal refuge said on Facebook. Additionally, there were lots of dead dogs discovered in the truck, the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge said.

“It was a frustrating scenario of, ‘these animals require instant help,'” the haven’s executive director, Megan Brinster, informed U.S.A. TODAY.

Police arrested a Virginia woman who owned the truck and charged her with animal cruelty, according to New Jersey State Police.

The animals had actually been residing in the vehicle for about a week. The haven said in a press release that the female filled the animals into her truck after a house fire in Virginia.

“It is clear that their injury and overlook covered far beyond the week they invested jammed in a pick-up truck,” the haven’s Facebook post says.

When the animals were discovered, they were covered in urine, feces and fleas, according to the animal haven.

Brinster said the dogs, which were all smaller sized mixed-breeds, are most likely associated and the outcome of an out-of-control breeding scenario.

“It starts with nevertheless numerous dogs, and after that they start breeding and the scenario grows and grows up until a couple years down the roadway, you have a substantial issue,” Brinster said.

New Jersey animal shelters concerned the rescue

The pick-up truck was discovered in a shopping mall parking area in Hampton, New Jersey, the night of April 10, according to Brinster. Of the animals discovered alive within, there were 38 dogs and 8 cats.

Seven various animal rescue companies came together to discover short-lived shelter for all the animals who had actually been inside the vehicle, she said.

All the dogs, consisting of those that were discovered dead, were comparable in size and look.

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge took in a handful of dogs and is working to get them embraced, Brinster said.

They published pictures of 3 pups called Michael, Sherwin and William to their Facebook page.

‘Somebody’s going to enjoy’ each dog

Brinster said all the dogs saved from the truck were disoriented and frightened, most likely since they had just had “very little” interaction with human beings their whole lives.

But quickly, a few of the braver dogs began to reveal love to rescue employees, she said.

Upon initially being rescued, the bravest dog accepted food from rescue employees, and “by the next day he wished to have his little head animal,” Brinster said.

When the dogs are embraced, each will get positioned in a home that already has a canine relative, so they do not feel lonesome or separated.

Even though each dog originated from an awful scenario, Brinster said she understands “someone’s going to enjoy you and you’re going to do truly well.”
