If you have ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of your local pet rescue, you can find out at a special event later this month.
Staff at Dogs Trust Darlington are excited to be opening their doors to visitors as they host their first-ever Discovery Day.
Visitors will get the chance to learn more about the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and the day-to-day work at your local Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre.
The event takes place at the Darlington Rehoming Centre in Sadberge on Thursday, April 11, and any interested has been invited to come along to “discover all things dog.”
Gordon Norrie, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Darlington, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the public to our centre to learn more about Dogs Trust and hope anyone with an interest in our work and our amazing dogs will join us.
“Staff from various teams including Education; Dog School and Home from Home fostering will be on hand to chat and answer any questions and I will be hosting tours on the day.
“Of course, a visit to our Rehoming Centre wouldn’t be complete without seeing a dog or two so anyone interested in adopting a canine companion is also encouraged to come along.
“Our rescue dogs can be viewed until 4pm with centre staff again being on hand to talk about our current residents.

“We hope that anyone who attends will leave the event with a deeper understanding of our work and what is involved in finding forever homes for our fantastic rescue dogs.”
The event runs from noon until 3pm and booking is not required. Parking and entry are both free. Refreshments will be available, and Dogs Trust merchandise will be for sale on the day.
