The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada is appealing a recent choice by the Federal Court, which agreed Facebook in a case connected to the Cambridge Analytica affair.
A judge in April dismissed the federal personal privacy guard dog’s quote for a statement that the social networks giant, now called Meta, broke the law governing using personal details.
The application was brought by the guard dog in relation to its 2019 examination of Facebook, performed collectively with British Columbia’s personal privacy commissioner, which discovered imperfections in its personal privacy practices.
The examination followed a grievance that British speaking with company Cambridge Analytica had the ability to access the personal information of countless Facebook users without their authorization.
