A Moroccan asylum seeker murdered a “defenceless” pensioner in a rampage motivated by the battle in Gaza, a court docket has heard.
Ahmed Ali Alid, 45, tried to kill his housemate, Javed Nouri, a former Muslim who transformed to Christianity, as a result of he believed Nouri was an apostate – that means somebody who has deserted their faith, Teesside Crown Court was advised.
He then went out on to the streets of Hartlepool the place he encountered Terence Carney, 70, who was out for a morning walk, attacking him and stabbing him to demise, the jury heard.
Following his arrest, Alid admitted being answerable for the tried homicide of Nouri and the homicide of Carney.
However, he’s now on trial after pleading not responsible to each fees and to assaulting two feminine law enforcement officials who had interviewed him after his arrest.
Alid advised police the assaults on the 2 males on 15 October final 12 months, every week after the Hamas assaults on Israel, have been “due to the battle in Gaza” and to take away “Zionists” from Palestine, the court docket heard.
He mentioned he would have killed others if he had not been stopped and was ready to be a martyr, the jury was advised.
