Yes, well, if I’m not mistaken in the last century about 20 people were killed by wolves and almost 500 by tap water burns in the US. And just to remind, 40% of Americans own a gun. I don’t think that wolves are such a danger anymore, and certainly they’re not sneaking into the people’s houses to kidnap and slaughter their kids.
I’m not from America, so I have no say on this matter, but I think we can all agree this is just being exaggerated and fatalistic.

Let me explain: in the early days of invention of printing press, the church had total control of printing press, and all books printed were checked by the church to promote Christianity, the first printed book was the Bible. At the time only church approved literature were allowed to print,
At the same period, there was a prominent family in Germany that used Wolf as family emblem/mascot, whom didn’t like the church. So to smear their name, the church only allowed fairy tales with wolf as antagonists to print. Most famously the Little Red Riding Hood and Three Little Pigs. Little Red Riding Hood is indeed one of few story featuring a deceiving wolf, where this role is traditionally portrayed by fox (implying wolves are liars and trying to eat/harm you).
