Hi. Hope you can help me. If 3 weeks old puppy can drink milk bottle but looks weak and dehydrated..should i feed him electrolyte after the milk..? or as long as the puppy can consume his milk no need for electrolyte?

Do you know where I can find a chart on dachshund genetics showing things like the probability of a shade/color, hair type, etc. Do you need 2 recessive genes to get a cream, or what aspects are dominant, how far you should trace generations back (how do grandparents/great grandparents genetics affect probablities), etc. I have a beautiful ("fixed") shaded cream long haired mini and I am retiring very soon and thought of what I want to do in rertirement (hint: not golfing or fishing). I have loved & had dachshunds for 30 years and what I want to do is to have a few sets of puppies every year and spread the joy that I have experienced. There is nothing as rewarding as seeing responsible parents smile when they first hold their new family member! But, I want to do it right – and I took to heart your view that an english cream male may be the kindest, gentlest pup. Thank you for all you do for our Doxeys!

My new born puppies (10 days old) have diarrhea for 2 days now. What do I do?

Do not use a heating pad! Police I had a heating pad I had an even set on low nothing caught on fire! And not just that but if your puppies came underneath a blanket or whatever you might have over top of your heating pad and a touch that he could scold them because it’s going to be hotter I suggest a heated throw and set it on very low and heated throw lay it out put them just in that one certain area the coils are usually a fire park you put like something like a thick towel on top of it or a nice blanket Tuckett around keep it on low with a can’t get in underneath it and they just get mild heat coming up. I like the Bedford heated throes at JCPenney. You’re very reliable day last year‘s to Washington and you can cut a little hole in the bottom of your little box or or put it underneath your run it through underneath the cage where the cord is out of the way and make sure you cover the little blanket heating throat with some other type of little blanket or something so if they can’t get in there and get on it and then you can keep it on low. I try to get the ones mine are a 10 hour shut off so I believe and I’ve never had a problem with any of them.
Another thing is if you have any surgical gloves you can fill some up with very warm water tie them off like you would a water balloon but don’t use a water balloon they’ll pop the gloves are stretchy and if mom happens to jump in with the puppies out of the puppy cross over the the water filled latex glove the pressure is not going to pop it because you’re not going to fill your glove up to capacity and get a couple of those impact those around in a little corner area of wherever you keep your pups and make sure you took some blankets or towels or something over them wrap them in a towel or something that they can’t get in there and get right directly on the Latex glove warm water filled glove. I put them in side of a pillowcase and then twist the pillowcase and then fold it over and set it in the corner of their whelping area and then wrap a towel soft blanket around it if you leave it kind of loosen that in leave the white water bottles is kind of loose in the pillowcase they can lay in between they can lay on top of the pillowcase but be in between the little hot water bottles there’s enough room that you like to get in between just make sure they’re not directly on any of the latex gloves or hot water bottle! I had a litter of puppies in my electricity went out so I had a natural gas heater in my fireplace but because I couldn’t use my little heated throw blanket I filled up these gloves like an even those little ice packs a little round looking ice pack set that you unscrew the lid you can fill them up with warm water screw the lid on real tight and flip them over and they can lay on those with a blanket or something over top of the heated ice packs I don’t want them directly on anything that’s filled with warm or hot water or on any types of units that are plugged in. Not feed your puppies cows milk get the canned formula at the petstorechewie.com wherever naptime is Walmart with one or two day shipping or you can use some goats milk very diluted if you have to feed your bottle with the puppy with a tube or bottle. Straight goats milk causes upset stomach can cause your dog a little bit of aspiration into their lungs. Don’t forget to burp your puppy!❤️

Hi my American pocket bully just ad 6 pups one has a cleft pallet I’ve been tube feeding for 4 days now every 2hrs but today she seams to be quite life less and I think she’s Dehydrated and I don’t have any electrolyte till the stores open I have the ingredients to make my Owen do you think it’s worth a go 🙆🏼‍♂️

Hi, i have weak puppy and half size of her sibling and i'm sorry about of being dehydrated, every time i try to feed her it goes out to her nose. Some pet owners told me that i should put light on her bed at least 8 inches away from her.. i hope you give me more advice.
