Meet Bud & Lou. Ya understand … Abbott & Costello. Gerbils, are remarkable & amusing. And affordable. The store( as any store), put ’em in different cardboard containers, upon purchase. Took about fifteen minutes to get house, as I had a stop-to-make. Opened-up the backback, which rascal chewed right through. Was hectic making a hole on the bottom of the knapsack.
The cage was a simple product. Somebody close by was getting-rid of a twenty gallon fish tank. Perfect. The wood-shavings( a 10 pound bag), was $12.00. Plenty for a number of cage cleansings.
Gerbils, are spick-and-span animals. Constantly cleaning themselves & you must never ever shower them. Give’em lots of wood/paper shavings for bed linen, as they like to dig. Gerbils are not truly nighttime. They are most active prior to sundown and prior to daybreak. Constantly best to have 2 males. Gerbils are neighborhood animals. Women, tend to argue & battle( males not as typically). Bathing them can eliminate their natural fragrance, making ’em unsightly to the remainder of the household.
Gerbils are cleaner than hamsters. They pick-out a location of the cage for the restroom. Making spot-cleaning fast & trouble complimentary. Simply ensure the cage top, is extremely safe, and no simple technique for the residents to reach. The soul concern is escape. Extremely tame, as they wonder. A couple of minutes outta the cage everyday, is healthy for ’em & they get rather connected to a caring owner. Mine were munching on dark green lettuce, apple, seeds, and some banana, as quickly as I put ’em in the brand-new house.
An excellent reward, one or two times a week, is a couple of meal worms. Yip. Gerbils will take in bugs in the wild. A little piece of driftwood, in the cage will keep those teeth healthy and filed-down.
