  1. I don´t think is about money; at list in some cases… My medium poodle Ricky, was 15 1/2 years old when he need a teeth extraction, but I decide not to take the risk of a anesthesya. After 14 years, a dog cannot suport a anesthesya so well, and may be a great risk of dying by simply not waking up from it any more… All the teeth Ricky loose after his 14´ was withouth a vet help; all his life he loved natural beef bones boiled 🙂 All the dog owners mast know that this is a natural way to solve this problem. My Ricky was strong and healthy all this years, eating beef meet bioled and not all this artificial dry food; of course, together with vegetables, cheese, fruits, nuts:) drinking little coffe with me every morning:) … What put him down was a tumore at one testicle, growing rapidly…he was 16 y.o. With his age, I refuse a operation because of a anesthesia risk. Vets gives him only two months more to live… and he live one more year! I took care of him till the end; and no metter how visibly his body condition slowly was deteriorating, he was trying his best to stay strong and fit; to hide the pain when I was arownd:( and to show me he is well and healthy… Even in his last moments(he died in my arms) he was trying to show me how strong he is…. Anaesthesia is a high risk for a senior dog! I do agree that withowth vets experimeting this, medicine cannot evoluate; but the owners mast be aware that the loving friend may not wake up from it any more. And asume the risk. I had one more year with my Ricky, because I refused a anaesthesia for a serious operation of a testicular cancer! He make it; we make it…. he proove me that I made the right decission not to operate him. When the end is near, whay not to stay as long as possible together?! I am writting this, because the vet who propose to operate and extirpate the testicular tumor, first informed me how much will cost me…money I mean; she forget to tell me that maybe he will never wake up from operation because of his age! I ask her this and she say…well it is a high posibillity not to… Hmmm… I knew it before, because now we can have informations and we can read. If I would listen to that vet, Ricky could have died during the operation. I beleive we win a year of life because refusing the operation! How strange this sounds… Vets mast inform the owners how dangerous may be a anaesthesia to a senior dog, before teling them how much will cost the operation! Me and Ricky …we win a year of life toghether! Money are not important… If you loose somebody you love; with all the money from this world you cannot bring it back! "The dog had 11 teeth extracted and survives the anaesthesia. He went home." Your description says a lot… sounds like a "braking news storry"! But, unfortunatly, this are isolated cases, with happy end. Most of them, they never wake up! And is vets duty to inform the owners about ! I wonder if you inform the owner about this risk previous proceeding anaesthesia? I wish you succes in preserving and giving lifes! Dogs are maybe the only true friends we have; please take good care of them! And this is what I would like to tell to all the vets: life is more impotant that money! Before calculating the costs….tell people what risks may come! Not all are informed. Greetings!
