  1. So I guess it’s too late to stitch it closed?… I guess it will scab over and heal eventually. My rat has this wound because she picked after surgery and I’m hoping it will heal itself. I hope

  2. My rat has wound like this from pulling out internal dermal stitches because they were very hard and I seen lots of knots where they buried the dissolving sutures under the armpit and mid stomach area. Not the best thing to do dissolving sutures in pet rats they’re too clever for their own food and q WILL REMOVE THEM EVENTUALLY, especially after a week or so when it starts to itch vs regular or staples just get removed by this time. Also to note I was mad initially when my first test had these ugly staples but they were sturdy didn’t remove much skin if any and by 10 days removed. Now I gotta rehabilitate my rat because of this deep wound where stitches were buried and they wanted me to come back to put staple or re suture but I didn’t have time or money so I’m having her in antibiotics now I added Doxy to Baytril and I bought some sterile NaCl (saline) water solution to clean it with. It doesn’t dry and irritate skin further like antiseptics especially hydrogen peroxide (tissue skin is very thin sensitive peroxide will burn the skin so extending healing time and he’s more likely to pick again.
Also mistake I made initially is using antibiotic cream/ointment with qtips it’s just another thing they want to remove this irritating their skin by continually licking it. Better keep it clean and dry don’t give reason to pick at it more. I watched mine all day and night and all rats are intelligent she found way too pick the stitches off the moment she sensed me gone. She also covered herself with her blanket making me think she was cold meanwhile underneath she was being naughty picking. Ugh

  3. Someone help, my two hamsters got into a fight, they're in separate cages but were near each other this time, i broke up the fight but now one of them is bleeding, i live in a small city and don't have any vets or animal clinics near me

  4. Thank you for posting these videos. A few months ago, my hamster died from probably a URI. I initially noticed that his eyes were crusty. I didn’t pay too much attention to it until he became lethargic and lost muscle tone. I took him to the ER where he got admitted. He eventually died despite everything they did for him. Had I watched your videos, I would have known that crusty eyes was a sign of illness. Your videos are probably the only hamster care from a medical profession videos on YouTube. I very much enjoy the content and have learned a lot from them. Thank you.
