First thing I thought of is why doesn't she just jump over. It took my friend's cats about 5 minutes to work that out when we put one up to keep the dog in a certain room.
Aww…. poor girl! I wish my cats didn't know THEY can jump over. It wouldn't occur to them to try and climb it. BUT, one of my boys must have hit his back leg or foot in jumping over, because he limped around for weeks after getting an x-ray to show he didn't break anything. The gate was up to keep the 8 pound (14 year old) pomeranian in the kitchen, where the puddle pad is when I'm gone and SHE has no problem climbing the gate, but doesn't bother if she knows I'm not in the other part of the house, as she's simply trying to get to where I am, not necessarily wanting the run of the house.
