New ear headbands at Walt Disney World not only have much shorter tags than they used to but the tags are also perforated for easy removal.

The old tags (the fabric ones, not the cardboard ones with the price on them) were often way too noticeable and obstructive if not removed entirely before wearing. With tags rivaling the length of comical CVS receipts, many park guests dealt with them to preserve the integrity of their limited-edition purchases or cut them off with scissors.

The first ear headband with the new short tags was the Disney 100 Minnie ears. We noticed that the new 50th anniversary Grand Finale ear headband also has these short tags and they are mostly perforated.

There are seven small black fabric tags attached to the headband. The top tag features the Disney logo and copyright symbol. This one is not perforated.

There are six more tags that list size, care, and material information, as well stating the headband is not suitable for young children, in several different languages.

These six tags are all perforated close to the headband, so they can be easily torn off instead of cut off, which often leaves fibers hanging off the headband.

The perforation definitely creates a cleaner look once the tags are removed. The Disney logo tag is also slightly smaller than the others, so is less obtrusive if left on, but could also be cut off.

While care instructions are sometimes necessary for preserving items and the details provided by some product tags provide important insight into where your product was made and what it was made from, they aren’t great for appearances and, on headbands especially, can lead to an itchy annoyance for its wearer. This has left many asking whether these novel-length tags, and their plethora of information written in teeny-tiny print, are truly necessary.

How do you feel about these new tags? Let us know in the comments!
