An deserted hamster has been rescued from a Dalston road after being present in a unclean and dirty cage.

The feminine hamster was discovered on Pembury Highway in Dalston by a member of the general public at round 8pm final Friday (April 1).

They contacted the RSPCA, and the organisation is now interesting for info on how the hamster got here to be deserted.

RSPCA animal rescue officer (ARO) Nicola Thomas has since collected the Syrian hamster and is caring for her at dwelling.

She stated the “poor hamster” was deserted on the road in a dirty metallic and purple plastic cage.

“Fortunately, somebody discovered her and contacted us for assist,” Nicola added.

“I took her dwelling with me the place I cleaned up her cage and gave her some much-needed care and a spotlight.”

Nicola continues to foster the hamster, now known as Oreo, but when no proprietor comes ahead she might be rehomed.

The animal rescue officer says there are many stories of small animals like hamsters being deserted.

Nicola says hamsters have “complicated wants”.
