Diamondbacks Spring Gameday Thread #20: Team U.S.A. vs. Colombia

The Cactus League video game for tonight doubts. The group already lost (instead of were beaten in!) half of their split-squad contest today, when a video game versus the Giants, with Madison Bumgarner on the mound, was cancelled due to rain. The very same fate might befall the night video game, though the rain appears to be more over here, on the West side of town. At the time of composing, it’s not drizzling over SnakePit Towers, however the Padres/Guardians video game tonight in Peoria was simply canceled. So we’ll see. Regardless, we have Merrill Kelly beginning a video game at Chase Field which will choose who enters into the playoffs. Let’s hope that isn’t the only time we get to state that in 2023…

Sure, it may be the World Baseball Classic, instead of the MLB playoffs, however we’ll still be rooting for him, all the method. Not least since success will secure Great Britain’s location in the 2026 WBC too. The bottom team of each group has to go through qualification, and if Colombia lose, they and GB would both finish 1-3. But the first tie-breaker is the head-to-head contest and… well, we all know who won that game, don’t we? 🙂 So Britain would be fourth, while Colombia would finish last, and have to qualify. With America also having to win to guarantee their location in the quarter-finals – I believe they’d play Venezuela – I don’t believe they’ll be taking their foot off the gas here.

Yep, appears like the D-backs are opting for an opener tonight. I believe they might wish to see how the weather condition goes, and don’t wish to run the risk of utilizing Brandon Pfaadt, just for his trip to be cut after an inning or 2. We might see him later on at night. Or perhaps not. Whatever occurs except straight-out cancellation, this one will be telecasted on Bankrupt Sports Arizona. So watch while you can, folks! 🙂
