This man ain’t no chicken.
Although it’s (most likely) a misconception that Benjamin Franklin desired the turkey to be the nationwide bird of America, there’s no rejecting the bird has particular character qualities that would serve us well to reproduce as a society.
They have a strong and appreciated social order (more than likely where the term “pecking order” originated from), are brave in assaulting hazards to their group and young, produce strong social bonds, and represent the strength in numbers argument.
But even if they wish to remain in groups doesn’t indicate a private one can’t make a declaration, like we see in this video.
A golf enthusiast on a Novato, California golf club experienced a wild turkey going to fight with a king snake to safeguard its nest. For some factor I would have presumed these birds would be frightened of a predatory snake, however this totally altered my point of view.
This turkey controlled the whole exchange, surging the snake around when it did get a fast hold of its beak and constantly pecking at it when the chance emerged.
I indicate, this was a bell to bell consentaneous choice for the bird.
While the video doesn’t reveal completion, the description leads you to think the snake was put to rest that day…
“A NorCal wild Turkey devours a large king snake on hole #1 at the golf club”
Hats off to the turkey.
