A boomslang was caught off guard when a chameleon determined it was time to struggle again.
The exceptional sighting was captured on digital camera by Brian Abrahamson (62) on the Moroela Loop within the Kruger National Park.
Abrahamson, who shared the footage and knowledge with LatestSightings.com, stated the snake and chameleon had been in a tree proper subsequent to the highway.
“Initially, the boomslang regarded prefer it had the flap-necked chameleon cornered. But the chameleon determined it was not over and started combating again.
“The chameleon, surprisingly quick and agile, fought back fiercely, biting the underside of the snake. It even changed colours, shifting from lime to dark green, perhaps to confuse its attacker,” Abrahamson informed LatestSightings.com.
He defined {that a} brown snake eagle was hovering above them, ready to grab its alternative, however it was being mobbed by two lilac-breasted rollers.
“The turning level got here when the boomslang paused its attack, sensing the eagle overhead. The snake was cautious, afraid of changing into prey itself. But as quickly because the eagle left, the snake struck the deadly blow, biting the chameleon under its flap proper into its open mouth.
“The eagle returned, perching on a nearby knob thorn tree. Sensing this, the snake quickly vanished into the grass, leaving the dead chameleon hanging in the dead tree.”
