A two-headed snake’s launch from a nature centre has been delayed after it began sneezing blood following surgical procedure.

The western rat snake, named Tiger-Lily, was scheduled to go away the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Powder Valley Nature Center this week. But the serpent’s departure has been prolonged after the invention of a well being situation.

Staff observed the reptile sneezing blood after a feeding and leapt into motion. MDC Naturalist Lauren Baker mentioned in a information launch : “This instantly raised a purple flag with our employees, and we rapidly acquired her an appointment with the Animal Health Team on the Saint Louis Zoo.”

The vets at Saint Louis Zoo came upon that the feminine snake’s ovaries had been in pre-ovulatory stasis after inspecting her.

Zoo veterinarian, Michael Warshaw, mentioned: “Under regular circumstances the ovary would develop follicles, then ovulate them as eggs to finally be laid.

“In Tiger-Lily’s case she started the reproductive cycle, however the follicles didn’t ovulate and as an alternative continued to develop and stay static in her ovary. Over time this led to irritation and the chance of an infection.”
