JACKSON, Wyo. (KIFI) – The Wyoming Department of Transportation, in addition to agreement teams from Ames Construction, Inc., will be decreasing traffic to one, rotating lane of traffic on the night of Wednesday, Aug. 21 to eliminate the bridge railing and change it with concrete barrier on the Snake River Bridge on WYO 22.
The work is being performed in the evening, to minimize the effects to regional traffic. The work will occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. start Wednesday night. Traffic will be finished the workspace at decreased speeds on a single lane, managed by flaggers.
Drivers in the location are recommended to comply with all traffic control indications and strategy appropriately for nighttime hold-ups that will happen through the work zones. WYDOT motivates drivers to decrease, increase their following range and understand roadway conditions and flaggers.
“The bridge railing needs to be eliminated in order for us to set up the structure for the brand-new bridge. The concrete barrier will be put for the general public’s safety up until the old bridge is eliminated next summer season. The single lane will simply be for one night to keep the bridge building on schedule,” WYDOT resident engineer Bob Hammond said.
The work belongs to the Snake River Bridge and Intersection job, which was granted in November of 2022. The work consists of the replacement of the Snake River Bridge on WYO 22, the restoration of the crossway of WYO 22 and WYO 390, wildlife crossings and other deal with roughly 1.80 miles of WYO 22 & WYO 390 in Teton County.
