“Domestic pets will attract them,” he said.

If you have chickens, it’s a case of when snakes will assault – not if, he said.

You can make your lawn less welcoming, he said, by keeping it tidy and devoid of green waste or other locations where snakes might conceal or lay eggs.

“It’s their time to play, their time to feed, their time to bulk up,” Walton said.

“We’re always busy with snakes when it rains.”
