A Scottish granny revealed no worry when an exotic-looking snake appeared in her back garden and startled her dog.
Jean Campbell had actually been attempting to usher her cockapoo Poppy back inside her home in Cardonald, Glasgow, when she saw the uncommon visitor on the doorstep.
The six-year-old dog was yelping and declining to come nearer.
Jean, 71, informed GlasgowLive: ‘[The snake] was simply sitting there doing not quite.
‘It looked strange and as if it had fallen out of the sky because there was nobody there. I’ve never ever seen any indication of it prior to so it was a little bit of a shock.
‘It was shaking and I thought the poor thing was traumatised but I wasn’t going to select it up with my hands.’

Luckily for Jean and Poppy, animal rescue officer Lorraine McNeill determined it as a corn snake – a popular family pet, as they’re entirely safe, simple to look after and don’t grow too big.

‘It’s a beautiful snake and the colours and markings were wonderful, it was extremely unique.

The snake was required to the Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, where a veterinarian evaluation validated it remained in health.
Lorraine, the SSPCA animal rescue officer, said: ‘The snake is little and orange with common corn snake markings.
‘If anybody has any information about this reptile then we ask that they please call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.’
She said if anybody else in Scotland stumbles upon an unique animal in their garden, they must do what Jean did and ‘immediately call our animal helpline’.
Depending on the size of the animal, it might be kept in a box up until the officers show up, however Lorraine stressed: ‘We ask that all individuals first consider their own safety and take the advice of our helpline operatives before attempting this.’
Last October, a female in Essex had a much more stunning encounter with a corn snake, when she saw one crawling through her open window as she awakened from a nap.
