Paramedics responded to a name about 6.30pm on Saturday at Koumala, south of Mackay, with stories {that a} man in his 60s had been bitten a number of occasions.

QAS Acting Deputy Commissioner Dr Claire Bertenshaw stated bystanders carried out CPR instantly after the person collapsed.
“The reports are, he was with a friend. They were actually at a 100-year celebration for the school. The snake was around his friend’s leg and he was helping to remove that snake,” she stated.
It was unclear what kind of snake it was.
“It is really hard to say with any certainty what snake it was, and it’s very hard for us to actually identify snakes,” she stated.
