Her father, Joseph Chiputura, a consultant within the Rushinga District in northeast Zimbabwe, advised The Herald-Zimbabwe his daughter was taken to the Rushinga Clinic 20 minutes after she was bitten.

The Herald-Zimbabwe quoted Themba Mangwiro, the deputy provincial training director, who stated there was no tall grass across the college the place the snake may need been. “We suspect that because the (college students) had been on the grounds doing sports activities the snake entered the classroom as a result of it was quiet.”
