JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tim Theocharidis and Jacob Panetta each scored twice, as the Jacksonville Icemen, temporarily re-branded as the Lizard Kings, picked up a 6-3 home win over the visiting Greenville Swamp Rabbits in front of 7,253 fans at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Jacksonville jumped out to a 5-0 lead heading into the second intermission before Greenville scored three times in the final period to pull within two goals with just less than two minutes remaining.
Craig Martin chipped in an empty net goal with 14-second remaining to seal the victory for the Icemen.
Olof Lindbom stopped 28-of-31 shots for the win for Jacksonville while Greenville out-shot the Icemen 31-21.
Jacksonville improved to 19-11-1-0 while Greenville fell to 17-9-7-0. In fifth place in the South Division, the Icemen are currently just two points behind the second place Swamp Rabbits.
Jacksonville returns to home ice on Wednesday night when they host the Florida Everblades.
Greenville travels to Savannah for a Wednesday night tilt with the Ghost Pirates before returning home for a pair of weekend home games.
