In a surprising incident in Odisha’s Ganjam district, a person was arrested by the police in reference to the demise of his spouse and minor daughter on account of a snakebite.
According to the police, the accused, recognized as Ok Ganesh Patra, was having a marital dispute together with his spouse, following which he hatched a plan to kill her and their two-year-old daughter.
Patra then procured a Cobra from a snake charmer and launched it into the room of his spouse and the minor daughter on October 7.
The snake then stung the mother-daughter duo, following which they have been rushed to a neighborhood hospital the place medical doctors declared them useless after a medical examination.
Initially, the police thought-about it a case of unnatural demise on account of a snakebite, however the course of the investigation was modified when the father-in-law filed an FIR towards the accused.
“On that night, the family members killed the snake and rushed the duo to hospital where they were received dead. The post-mortem report also pointed out the cause of the deaths as snakebite. We launched our probe based on the allegations of the deceased’s father. During the investigation, we learned that he (K Ganesh Patra) had procured the reptile from a charmer. The charmer will also be interrogated,” a police official concerned within the investigation mentioned to the media.
The accused was arrested by the police after an in depth probe into the case.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
