A brand-new sort of snake has actually been discovered in Montague — and it’s implied to bring individuals happiness.

“We’ve all been a lot given that the last 3 years with COVID and whatever. It’s time to start doing something that’ll lighten up everyone’s day, so why not produce a happy space?” he said.

With paint products contributed from the Montague Rotary Library, he said everybody is welcome to paint a rock — and the possibilities are unlimited.

“It’s whatever they wish to do. It can have a birthday welcoming, an ‘in memory of’ rock, a relationship rock, or an ‘I like you’ rock. Anything to produce a tail,” he said.

Although the rock snake job is implied for everyone, Benoit said it has a much deeper significance for him.

“It’s going to bring happiness to my heart. It’s a little bit of recovery, specifically given that my better half passed back in September. This is bringing a bit of happiness to my heart and sort of putting my mind at ease,” he said.

Benoit said he’s already received messages from individuals in other provinces like Nova Scotia and Ontario who prepare to paint a rock for the snake when they come for holiday.

‘Creating a buzz’

He’s likewise received messages from individuals of any ages, and even some day care groups. He said the snake has actually gotten a great deal of regional attention.

“It’s developing a little buzz around the area,” he said.

Paula O’Brien, professors supervisor of the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre, said she believes it’s a great concept.

“I believe it’s a fantastic method to get the neighborhood included and all the regional kids will be thrilled to see how huge it’ll grow,” she said.

The hope is to have the snake gain traction on social networks, she said, which will draw in more individuals to the website.

“With social networks, individuals will be taking photos and seeing how it grows. More individuals will wish to include onto that,” she said.
