‘Missed by many’: Snake chunk sufferer’s household pays tribute to those that tried to avoid wasting his life

The household of a Queensland man who died after a snake chunk on the weekend have paid tribute to those that tried to avoid wasting his life.

Donny Morrison, 69, was bitten by a snake after he had efficiently eliminated it from his good friend’s ankle and was walking away with the reptile whereas attending the 100-year celebration for Koumala State School, close to Mackay, on Saturday.

Bystanders and paramedics tried to revive the person however had been unsuccessful.

“Thank you to the school and committee that pulled together a wonderful celebration,” the household wrote in a press release shared to a Facebook web page for the occasion.

“We all enjoyed ourselves, especially Donny who was really happy to have caught up with so many old friends.”

“We would like to thank everyone involved with the incident involving Donny, people pulled together in an attempt to resuscitate Don but unfortunately were not successful,” they stated.

“We are sorry that the incident led to the event being shut down early.

“Donny was a well-liked member of the Koumala community and will be missed by many.”

Tributes additionally flooded social media with customers calling him a “good friend and neighbour” and a “hero” for his courageous actions.
