The incident occurred on Sri Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC) campus on the outskirts of Tumakuru, 80km from Bengaluru. The sufferer has been recognized as Adit Balakrishnan, a local of Thrissur in Kerala and a pupil of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education.
Police stated he was bitten by a venomous snake round 11pm whereas he was coming back from the convocation. “The pupil was bitten by the snake close to a parking area near his room. He was accompanied by his mom and different kin on the time of the incident, although nobody realised he was bitten by the snake. Upon reaching home, he’s stated to have collapsed and was rushed to a close-by hospital, the place he died,” stated a police officer from Tumakuru. While snakebite marks have been discovered on the sufferer’s physique, post-mortem revealed a excessive stage of venom in his blood samples.
Adit was conferred with MBBS diploma throughout the annual convocation, attended by Congress parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor and SAHE chancellor and home minister G Parameshwara.
Dr Prabhakara GN, the SSMC vice-principal, stated: “Adit was a great pupil. It is unlucky that he couldn’t attain the hospital on time. We held a condolence assembly on the school Thursday to pay our tributes.”
Adit’s mom and kin, who had come from Thrissur to attend the convocation, have been left shattered. College sources stated the household was ready for Adit’s father to reach from Italy to finish the final rites.
The Tumakuru SP and deputy SP didn’t reply to calls and messages from TOI.
